TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH

Greeter Responsibilities

Primary Role - The Greeter is responsible for welcoming worshippers as they enter the Church.

If you are assigned as Greeter for the service, it is a good idea to arrive at least fifteen minutes before the beginning of the service. Keep in mind that you may be the first person that a worshipper or visitor encounters upon entering the Church. As worshippers enter the church:

Greet everyone by name or introduce yourself.

Hand each worshipper a Service Bulletin.

Answer any questions.

Attempt to identify any visitors and pay attention to their needs to acquaint them with the service process and seating. Ask them to sign the visitor book in the Narthex if they’re interested. Give each visitor a gift bag/information packet.

Ring the Bell prior to the service - After the Organ Voluntary (Prelude), but before the Processional hymn, ring the church bell several times by pulling on the red and white striped cord.

After The Peace – Proceed to the rear table where the Host and the Wine will be placed. When the Priest is at the Altar and ready, walk to the Altar and hand the gifts to the Priest, Deacon, or Acolyte. You will be handed the offering bowls in return. Go to each pew and give everyone an opportunity to place an offering in the bowl. When you are finished, stand at the rear of the Church, until the Offertory Anthem (if used) is completed, and the Doxology (if used) begins. At that time, proceed again to the Altar and hand the offering bowls to one of the Altar parties.

After the service – Collect any Service Bulletins that have been left throughout the church and place them on the back table. Place hymnals and prayer books back in the pew racks.
